I came to reception here and was shown the room pictured about for 300 baht on the ground floor. It was a tad musty and the bed was hard, so I asked if there was a similar fan room on the first floor but was told the first floor was air-con.
I stayed there for two nights, but near the window there was an electronic ghekko siren, i.e. the kind of things they have in restaurants, for the kitchen to press when the food is ready so the waiter knows to go and fetch it. This would go intermittantly on and off until about 3am. but it was bearable with ear-plugs.
On the third night, this sound was joined by water cascading from a height falling straight outside. I stood it as long as I could, then went to reception.
The staff were different from those who checked me in. They showed me the room list, and offered me a fan on the first floor, and all the fans are the same price, so the first staff lied. I ended up moving to another room on the same floor, same price but with a balcony. So I was obviously shown the worst room first, which seems to be the done thing here.
